About Amatsiko Organization

Amatsiko is a registered community based organization (CBO) operating in South- Western Uganda, Kabale District, Kigezi region. The idea for the project was initially conceived in 2005 by Alex Atuheire, the project director, after he saw the detrimental effects that being vulnerable had on the future of the community's children.

About this Campaign

In countries like Uganda where we are currently faced with a second wave of the coronavirus which is more subtle than the first one, we are more afraid that people are not going to die because of the virus but rather die of hunger.

In this second phase of lockdown, all the activities in the country have all been put on a halt for 42days. Schools have all been closed, businesses have been asked to close, there are no movements at all. This is a second time we are in a total lockdown.

Currently we have 200 families who are on the verge of starvation due to this pandemic. On average each of these 200 families has 4-6 children to support. Most families have low income and due to this pandemic and lockdown, the situation has worsened because people are not allowed to move and work.

Before the pandemic, many people were living in extreme poverty but with effects from the pandemic, the number of children living below their respective national poverty line has highly increased leaving many of their future's less certain as most are even dying of hunger.

It costs $20 to feed a household of 4-6 members for 15 days and 200 households are in need of support to feed and rescue them from starvation.

Use of Funds

We are kindly asking for your support to help save 200 families from starvation. On average each family has 4-6 children and that means;

200 families X 5 children = 1000 children (lives)

These families need food to last them for at least 15 days. Each family requires $20 which will provide each family with 10kgs of posho (maize flour) and 10 kgs of beans

$20 X 200 families = $4000
