About this Campaign

The ecOceánica’s Sea Turtle Research and Conservation Project is a long-term program started in 2010 and located in the northern coast of Peru.

The objectives of this program are to evaluate the populations of marine turtles feeding in this area in order to learn about their demography, residency in the area, growth rates, population dynamics, etc; monitoring the sea turtle nesting activity, working hand in hand with fishermen and local people in order to involve them in conservation through an active participation.

Adopting symbolically a sea turtle, you are supporting ecOceanica’s sea turtle program focusing on research, education, advocacy and the protection of important habitats.

Use of Funds

The funds will support fieldwork (e.g., transportation, boat rentals, fuel, collection supplies, satellite tags, GPS), laboratory analysis (e.g., DNA extraction kits), and wages for local assistants. In addition, these funds will support our environmental education efforts in K-12 schools and universities, as well as training local tourist providers and fishers on sea turtle tourism best practices.
