About Solidarity Eden Foundation

Solidarity Eden Foundation (SEF) is a registered refugee youth-led organization based in Kampala, Uganda. Founded in 2015 by refugee youth. Solidarity Eden Foundation unites urban refugees through avenues like Language Development Programs, Vocational Training, Community Development Projects and Creative Arts. Every year Solidarity Eden Foundation serves more than 1,700 refugee adults to break obstacles for social inclusion and promoting refugee self-reliance. The organization serves refugees from 4 main countries, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South-Sudan, Rwanda and Burundi from the age of 17 and above.

About this Campaign

Solidarity Eden Foundation attempts to create a welcoming and safe environment for urban refugees in Kampala Uganda who are often not getting the chances they deserve to adjust, cope and thrive in the new hosting Ugandan communities. For the last 5 years, SEF has been home to vulnerable and trauma-affected refugees who are healing wounds from conflicts and wars experienced in their home countries before fleeing to Uganda through the exposure and access additional psychological rings of support from counselors, mentors, and fellow refugees to grow their network and form key relationships and friendships for life.

Through the process, the Solidarity Eden Foundation unites marginalized urban refugees through trauma-informed programming including Language Development Programs, Vocational Training, Community Development Projects, and Creative Arts year-round to nearly 250 refugees in the Nsambya neighborhood.

Use of Funds

As we aim to return to full in-person programming this January 2022 after a year of ups and downs brought by the covid 19 resurgence here in Uganda. Despite all the challenges posed, we were able to keep our participants at the center of all our initiatives and program adjustments. We are launching this fundraising campaign in order to start programming on a high in 2022 and beyond by raising funds that will help support our activities and be a hand of help to the refugees here in Kampala. We cannot get there on our own, and as this puts us into a test of togetherness while apart, we believe we can together heal, empower and bring hope to our affected refugee adults and youths.

$10 will provide whiteboard markers for our 4 English and business classes for a month
$25 will provide stationery to our program for a month
$35 will provide so much-needed cleaning supplies and covid safeguarding including sanitizers for a full month.
$50 will provide internet access for our 7 staff for a month at our refugee resource center
$150 will provide rent for our program premises for a full month

We believe we can together overcome this pandemic and emerge stronger. Every single penny goes a long way to empowering and improving the resiliency of fragile refugee population here in Kampala, Uganda.
