What We Need

Volunteers have the option of joining us for structured ten day Service Learning Trips, or to stay with us for a longer period of time. All volunteers stay in spacious apartments complete with kitchen and bathroom within our beautiful compound in the neighborhood of Chilimarca. The compound is adjacent to our school Comunidad Educative Para la Vida and an easy thirty minute bus ride away from our legal aid clinic in the center of Cochabamba.

Service Learning Trip participants have the opportunity to work in our legal clinic, school, and with our team of psychologists to support child survivors of sexual violence. Additionally, you'll join us on a three day excursion to see the Inca ruins in La Paz! Depending on when you travel with us, you'll also have the opportunity to spend two days in a rural Andean village conducting public health work, journeying to the Bolivian rainforest, and preparing for our August 9 walk against sexual violence.

Longer term volunteers often choose to participate in our Service Learning Trip while also focusing on a specific project during their stay, such as by shadowing one of our lawyers or participating in play therapy with the children.

Working at A Breeze of Hope is an incredible opportunity for aspiring lawyers, social workers, psychologists, and human rights advocates! Our trips will enable you to see a side of Bolivian life that most tourists never see; from cooking traditional food with our staff to picking up Quechua from our clients, you'll leave Cochabamba already planning your next trip back.

Working with us will include:
- Teaching children about their rights at our school in Chilimarca
- Participating in play therapies and recreational outings with our clients including yoga, dance, and art-making
- Volunteering at our Health Center in Chilimarca to shadow nurses and doctors offering health services to locals
- Working at our Learning From Differences program in the Andean mountains to teach life skills to children with disabilities
- Visiting world-famous tourist attractions like Lake Titicaca, Incachaca, and local villages
