What We Need

Note: We currently have volunteer opportunities for our work in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Our volunteer program seeks to provide opportunities for volunteers to work with children, youths, and women to develop conflict resolution skills, project development, management and evaluation, creative arts, or undertake research projects that promote the course of young people and women in the world’s poorest continent. All levels of skills and talents are welcome and appreciated. Volunteers will get the opportunity to learn about people and their culture and to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people, women and the less privileged, many of whom have gone through traumatic experiences. It also offers citizens the opportunity to learn from other cultures, develop an appreciation for global diversity and gain life-skills. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

When & Who

The program runs all year around. Schedules are tailored according to the specific needs of the volunteer and the requirements of the organization. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least three months in advance of their intended start date so as to give the organization enough time to sort out the paper work and logistics. A minimum of one month’s commitment is strongly recommended, though not required.

AID is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the State of Washington, USA and Sierra Leone to support the Empowerment of Women, Children, Youth and Marginalized Communities in Africa for sustainable development.

In a world where competition is high and the battle for survival is tough, and the available resources are limited despite the many raw materials with which the African continent is endowed with, AID seeks to Advocate for and provide equal access to opportunities regardless of gender, tribe or race and further provide relevant services for the development of the continent.

As we seek to promote human development holistically by tackling poverty through advocacy and service delivery at community, local and national levels, the organization does have several programs through which it has designed methods and strategies to reach its target beneficiaries at all levels.

We envisage an African society where its citizens can freely exercise their human rights without fear or discrimination as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and People's Rights and also are able to live a dignified life free from poverty and disease.

The Organization seeks to promote human rights education and enhance the capabilities of women, children and youth across Africa to effect positive social change that would bring about sustainable development in their lives and communities.
