What We Need

1. Teaching Portuguese as a second language, using our "science of language" curriculum.(no background experience in teaching is required)

2. Teaching Korean as a second language, using our "science of language" curriculum. (no background experience in teaching is required).

3. Vocational Skills Training (agriculture, car/motorcycle mechanics, electronics or other skills you can offer).

Explaining the need of Portuguese: Portuguese has become the national language of East-Timor. Despite it being the national language, many are unable to speak Portuguese. Portuguese is therefore a necessity to learn for the Timorese community.

Explaining the need for Korean: When learning Korean, Timorese people can travel to South Korea for working experience and enhance the economical growth of their own country.

Explaining the need for Vocational skills: Not many Timorese have gained skills which they can use to start their own initiatives. With vocational skill training, we aim to help the Timorese people to gain confidence in hard-skills, in order for them to start their own initiatives in the future.

Social Activities

All volunteers who come to our school receive an orientation in the school. All the facilities are shown to them and the daily program is being explained to them. Volunteers can ask or answer questions and share their thoughts/concerns/wishes during the orientation or at any other time (to their supervisor).

Every Saturday morning, the volunteers (both local and international) come together for a learning session. During this session, volunteers discuss, share and learn new concepts.

We often organize social trips to the beach, either with all the students or with all the volunteers.
