We are an environmental non-profit organization located in the southern region of our country. We're in an area full of family and rural enterprises and we're on a route that leads to the highest mountain in the country Cerro Chirripó, located in the National Park of the same name. We work from our farm and hostel to create a better world.
There are hiking trails right on the property too, as well as a river that’s perfect for cooling off after a morning of manual labor.
The volunteer program itself is interesting and flexible. You can plant and maintain the garden, help build beds for vegetables and flowers, document native birds on the property, and assist in the everyday tasks of the hostel.
If you get to work with Ranzeth and Lizeth, you’re very lucky. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome by helping me practice Spanish, inviting me to endless functions with their friends and family, and taking me hiking.
I would highly recommend Montaña Verde to anyone considering a volunteer program with a farmstay/hostel. I’m sad to leave but hope to return someday. Thank you for everything!" - on 18/03/2019
