AJE is a non-profit organization working for the protection and care of children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations.
I. General Introduction
Since its inception and start-up in 2013, the AJE has been working for the protection and care of children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations. Among the beneficiaries of his social services were talibés children, children in total social breakdown, children at risk of rupture and children living in families in a situation of precariousness advanced.
These key targets have been sustained for several years in the areas of health, formal and informal education, vocational training, economic integration, nutrition, sport and recreation. This makes 7 areas of action for a variety of targets to be achieved since 2013.
In order to better focus the impact of its actions on the most vulnerable targets, based on its considerable and praiseworthy experiences over the past five years, the AJE Board of Directors decided to focus sur quatre domaines d'activités.
II. Areas of intervention of the AJE
The main lines of intervention chosen to provide a lasting and efficient response to the very worrying and difficult situation of children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations, which goes unnoticed by the authorities, the community and most NGOs and associations are:
III. The Vision, Mission and Values of the Hope Youth Association
The vision of the AJE is to make the northern region of Senegal an area where children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations, representing the weakest link in vulnerable children and young people in the Saint-Louis region, enjoy protection and in order to support them in finding their way out of poverty towards economic independence.
The AJE assumes the mission of supporting children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations of the northern region of Senegal through these four main axes:
• Education: By maintaining or returning them to school or at risk of dropping out of school;
• Health: By enrolling them in the program of universal health coverage launched by the State of Senegal;
• Vocational Training: by enrolling them in vocational training when they can no longer return to school;
• Economic Insertion: By accompanying them when they have completed their training towards an economic integration for their economic independence.
The Cult of Excellence: Always aim for excellence in the work to be done within the organization:
Dignity: respect for human dignity regardless of race, religion, provenance and ideology.
Autonomy: Accompaniment and motivation of children and youth in advanced vulnerability situations so that they are actors of their own development.
Integrity: Everyone who is a member of the Association must have unfailing moral and mental integrity to serve the beneficiaries effectively and equitably.
Competence: The AJE must always rely on proven competencies for each area.
The volunteers will be needed in 4 area of interventions: Vulnerable children health care, Education of iliterate youth, follow-up of young beneficiairies enrolled in vocational training and accompanied in income generating. The volunteers will be guided by experienced staffs in each area of intervention they will work.
We also povide guidance when the volunteer wants to visit touristic sites in Saint- Louis of Senegal. When the volunteer's plane lands late in the night, a room is booked at a hotel near the airport for the night before heading to the beautiful river city of Saint-Louis. The round-trip transport fees from Dakar to Saint-Louis are also supported by Association Jeunesse Espoir.
