Benposta Venezuela
Volunteering Activities
What We Need
We need volunteers to work in education, health care, alimentation, formation in different craftsmen ships (gardening, cooking, etc), all in different parts of Venezuela. These areas include:
- Isla de Zapara, EDO Zulia (a free of charge canteen and craftsmen workshop).
- Colegio de Benposta, which has about 400 students and an apartment for 20 students (residents of Benposta) within the school.
- Los Frailes, Zulia State. This has a free of charge canteen for 180 children, a health care centre, dentist, library, shop, multi-purpose hall, kitchen, houses for 20 - 40 children from Benposta, and a day-care house for 50 children between the ages 0 and 6, from Monday to Friday, where the children receive medical attention, healthy food, and clothes.
When & Who
What we Provide
Usually our volunteers are offered to change location during their stay in order to get to know the different projects of Benposta Venezuela.
Alongside food and accommodation, we can provide excursions for the volunteers when they are finished with work, but this needs to be asked for and discussed with the staff in advance.
All meals provided. If you are a vegetarian, we will need to check if this is possible.

More Services we Offer
The biggest thing that we require from a volunteer is flexibility and the will to help where needed. They need to be able to cope with basic living conditions (Internet access is available only on the weekends at the Benposta director's house).

Benposta is a nonprofit organization founded 1956 in Spain by Jesús César Silva Méndez. Benposta Venezuela was founded 1990. The organization enables kids living in a family-like environment to be educated in various aspects of life (social, school, art). The idea is a model-like society, independent from race, sex, faith, social, and national background.
