A holistic approach to bridging the gap between the urban and rural sector in Sri Lanka, empowering over 30,000 lives in 100+ villages via 30 sectors in action free of cost annually.
The Foundation of Goodness was established in 1999 and has worked extensively following the 2004 tsunami that devastated the lives of thousands of Sri Lankans to develop a one of a kind holistic rural community development model which today delivers a wide range of programmes to over 30,000 beneficiaries from 100+ villagers in the South, North and East of Sri Lanka annually, free of charge, via our 30 activity sectors which include Arts & Multimedia, Children, Enterprise & Empowerment, Environment, Housing, Dental, Medical & Psycho-social supports, Scholarships, Sports Development & Management, Sustainable Income Generation, Village Heartbeat Project, Village Welfare & Development and Volunteer Management.
The Foundation of Goodness is an organization that aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban populations. We operate principally out of the MCC Center of Excellence, Seenigama in the South of Sri Lanka and also work extensively with villages in the post-war North and East of Sri Lanka.
When the years of conflict came to an end, the Foundation of Goodness extended its development activities to the post-war North and East of Sri Lanka and have been working in the North since January 2011, reaching over 25,000 beneficiaries to date, with uninterrupted monthly visits to introduce, maintain and expand a variety of programmes including village infrastructure development, sports development, library and schools development, water and sanitation projects, livelihood and vocational programmes, micro finance projects and have distributed over 3,700 bicycles to needy beneficiaries in partnership with Sri Lankan Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara and his ‘Sanga’s Bikes for Life’ programme.
You can choose from among our 30 empowerment sectors including english classes, pre-school, medical and dental clinics, diving centre, sports academy, Elders and children's homes, IT centre and village heartbeat projects to name a few.

If you volunteer with the Foundation of Goodness (FoG), you will return home having had the experience of a lifetime. FoG hosts volunteers from across the globe – particularly since the tsunami – and the benefits for both the local community and volunteers are far reaching.
Volunteering at the Foundation of Goodness will give you the opportunity to bring much needed skills to areas as diverse as sport, health, education, children’s wellbeing and more, directly benefitting people in the area who are disadvantaged by poverty and lack of opportunities.
We welcome applications from all volunteers and are in particular need of well qualified professionals who can provide insight and support for staff as the organisation moves toward a phase of community focused development. If you volunteer with us, you will leave as a member of the family; most volunteers keep in touch, many continue to assist from afar in whatever capacity they can and some return again to enhance the work of the Foundation and improve the lives of the Sri Lankan people in this area.
