We are a shelter for rescued stray dogs.
What We Need
The maintenance of the dogs' corrals and houses, dog training, grooming, events and fundraising, advertising, and education.
When & Who
What we Provide
Since we do not have a house with a room for guests, we are looking for lodging within our circle of Vivatma friends and volunteers. That is not always easy, because In Colombia does not yet exist the culture of hosting foreign people. Generally, we would offer a private room in a house (apartment) either in the city or in the countryside.
Breakfast - lunch- supper. Vegetarian food might be offered only in a vegetarian host family.

More Services we Offer
Volunteers can join our local group to organize some tours. Help with the language is possible. The additional services depend on the hosts' readiness to cooperate.
Other Ways to Help
Actually, because of our temporary housing problems, short volunteering experiences are more comfortable and practical. We usually work during some Saturday morning hours, for example laying bricks to make a atio, bathing or grooming the dogs or painting and/or repairing the dogs' houses.
Accessories like plates, toys, balls, etc for dogs and cats, gyms (cats), construction materials (fences), tools (hammer, drilling-machine), things to create a playground (slide, hammocks, pool) and make agility. Dewormers, disinfectants. Paint (waterproof and vinyl). Decoration for the cats' rooms.
Additional Info about Us
Caretaking, cleaning, feeding, repairs
As we cannot offer housing, because there is not yet a boarding house, we are continuously looking for particular hosts to receive our volunteers from abroad. Therefore we can't receive as much volunteers as we wish to, but we are working hard on that.
The paintings and other open-air activities are usually done in "summer", between June and September and December-March. During the rain period working outside is difficult.
We are are non-profit organization working for animal welfare, especially the protection of strays and their habitat. We focus on rescue, rehab, spay and neuter programs, education and adoptions.
