Fundraising Responsable

We have always worked based on human resources, efforts and energy, but if we want to secure our actions in the future and ensure an existance on the long term, we need a small some financial income.

We are searching for a volunteer that will setup a fundraising strategy for Green Cameroon. On the short term, for specific projects and campaigns, but also and mainly on the long term. You will be completely in charge as you will be starting from scratch. Of course, you will be helped, supported and adviced if needed by Masango, the director and the other team members. You will also be expected to participate to any other projects and campaigns of the NGO. We are a team and we would be very pleased to welcome you!

Human Rights Out-Reach Program

Green Cameroon is seeking a volunteer to take charge of developing and implementing practical human rights programs and the production of related documents. The volunteer will work with prisons, schools, law enforcement institutions and other relevant government offices.

Schools Environmental Clubs Coordinator

Volunteers will identify, develop and carry out practical hands-on projects in our various school environmental clubs. The projects are aimed at achieving transformative education for sustainable development in Cameroon. The position is very challenging and needs someone creative, open minded and ready to take initiative.

These volunteers also have the task of coordinating our various School Environmental Clubs. They will work with youths aged 5 to 18, develop both in-door and out-door programs aimed at developing love for nature in the students and getting them actively involved in conservation activities.

This volunteer will have the general role of producing publications (both in prints and on the internet) for the organisation aimed at giving the organisation an effective presence both on the domestic and national scene.

EcoTourism Programs Developer

To ensure its sustainability, Green Cameroon intends to get involved in ecotourism activities. It is hoped that income raised from its ecotourism activities will assist in the financing of current and future community projects.

This volunteer position has to do with, working with local community members to develop relevant information material for touristic destinations, identification of new sites, development of a commercialization mechanism and development of all necessary informational documentation.

This position is suitable for some one who can take initiatives, has the interest of touring all over Cameroon and has experience or is interested in ecotourism initiatives. Good writing and negotiation skill will be added advantages.

The Green Media Campaign works on using media to teach and sensitize on environmental issues both at local and global levels. If you are a good writer, photographer or film maker, you have a chance to volunteer on this project. With Volunteers coming from Canada, Belgium, France and Indonesia, you will have the chance to work with skilled and creative individuals from all over the Globe.

International Relations Officer and Fundraiser Volunteer/Intern

This position has to do with brandishing and selling Green Cameroon’s image to the outside world and sourcing for partners who can support and sponsor the various projects that Green Cameroon is running. This person/s should be a good negotiator with an open mind and have good team spirit. He will be in charge of producing media aimed at giving a better and clear picture of what Green Cameroon is all about, what it is currently doing and any prospective projects. The most important aspect we need here is the determination to be of help to a community based organization that is struggling to work for the conservation of biodiversity.

Yes, we require a minimum of 15 Days
Types of Volunteers Two different types of volunteers are distinguished: short-term volunteers and long-term volunteers. Both types affect volunteers from 18 and 65 years old. Short-term volunteers contribute for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months. Unless there is a convincing reason to extend the length, they assist only in ongoing projects. A maximum of 6 short-term volunteers will work with Green Cameroon at the same time. The short-term Action aims to support students in search for an internship placement and allow young job-seekers to gain work experience. It is however still open to professionals who are willing to be of help to our communities. Long-term volunteers contribute for a minimum of 7 months and a maximum of 12 months renewable once. They can be either national or international and they assist in ongoing projects and/or can set up their own projects in cooperation with Green Cameroon. A maximum of 5 long-term volunteer will work with Green Cameroon at the same time, (s) he might possibly have finished the short-term Action first. The long-term Action aims to give (inter)national youngsters the chance to gain experience before finding their way into the job market or before making their decision about future studies. It is also suitable for the gap year activity and for professionals who want to help our community through service and for all those who want to give back someting to the world in gratitude for its bounty.

Training opportunities for volunteers

Volunteer in CameroonGreen Cameroon offers sufficient guidance in the volunteer’s work and where possible, the volunteer will be expected to attend trainings, workshops and meetings relevant for the running projects. The work will be diverse and it is our aim to give the volunteers a high level of responsibility, in such a way that they can follow up projects throughout the different work stages.

All volunteers will be offered a Pidgin language training for two weeks. This will be useful for both international volunteers as for Cameroonians coming from the Francophone part of the country. It will improve the communication in the office as well as the volunteer’s integration in the local community.

While staying in Cameroon, learning about the culture might be as important as carrying out the different task for Green Cameroon. To encourage this, the volunteer will be encouraged and invited to attend the many different cultural events, and (s)he will be offered to join work trips in the other parts of the country as much as possible.

A typical day for volunteers

Volunteering Program in Cameroon
A typical work week is Monday – Friday, working every day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m with 1 hour break. At the weekend, the volunteer has both days free to do what they want. He/She is allowed to take one week off every 3 months, which is to be decided with the rest of the team.

A typical day starts around 8 a.m, at the office with the rest of the team. After that, depending on your own work schedule and the schedule of your colleagues

It was founded in 2003 by a group of young Cameroonians who felt concerned about the level of environmental degradation and lack of interest and awareness on environmental issues that prevailed at the level of the population of Cameroon.
