Latin American Missions Association
Non-profit charity focused on Peru Mission building in earthquake and flood zone with low income farm worker villages.
What We Need
Evangelism - working with resident missionaries with children. Share testimony, music, arts, sports, support, listen. Many other skills welcome (finance, admin, construction, agriculture, etc)
When & Who
What we Provide
Assuming a group of 5 or more, we will provide travel to and from Lima airport to temporary apartment in Miraflores (suburb of Lima) before busing you down from Lima area to city of Ica and shuttle to mission. This will also include lodging and meals while at mission short one day for meals on your own. Also included is reverse transportation and another night in Miraflores upon departure. (Mission can house as many as 20, our interim apartment in Lima can only handle 10 at a time, but we can find a neighboring hostel to support more)
Longer term staffing is made to be as inexpensive as possible, about $100/month and a share of utilitiies is the target.
Each group chooses their meal plan. One, we can provide full meal planning, cooking for a very reasonal cost (less than $4-5/day). Two, there are restaurants in the village that provide meals very reasonably priced. Lastly, often groups may want to do their own grocery shopping and cooking, and that is possible too (just need to pay for the cooking gas). Our aim to be as flexible as possible but would like each group to do a plan of some sort and not at the individual level.
The above 'daily fee' is based on short term visits (less than a month) covering room & board. Daily fee above can go down quite a bit the longer the stay and will also vary depending on meal options. If taking care of own meals outside of mission, lodging only $10 for short term stays, Much lower for 45+day stays.

More Services we Offer
Group size determines what we can do. Dependng on 'package'. Regardless of fee or not, we have contacts in Lima for ground transport, a lodging we own in Miraflores if you need to do a night or two in Lima before or after coming to Mission (availablity allowing). We can arrange for, or include in a package offering, ground transport from Ica to mission, LIma airport to bus or apartment, advise and direction on tourist sites near or far.
Other Ways to Help
1) We have weekly knitting/crochet sessions with adults,
2) kids are always looking for sport players to challenge, would love to start a baseball exercise since it is a passion with our Venezuelan resident pastor (baseball is literally unknown outside of Venezuela in south America);
3) we have music instruments and microphones and many willing and interested children for teaching and learning;
4) always an audience and teaching materials for learning english.
Speaking Spanish is always useful but not mandatory. Mission is always able to use quality used clothing, shoes, mostly for children but also adults (in case you want to use your checked baggage allotment more! ;-) ) . We have many construction needs with villagers so if you have trade skills (and can help with materials costs) there is always a need. Longer term mission assignments have a totally different cost structure to work with, based on long term rates, shared lodging, etc. We are currently starting to work with groups that come for construction, to also help with material cost of building a new 2 room home.
Additional Info about Us
Working with children and youth is primary role. Construction coordination role is desired to fill. A teen leader is desired. bible study coordination, music roles. All staffing would share in maintaining the mission grounds.
Our 4 adult and one child resident missionaries are from Venezuela & USA. It helps, but is not mandatory, having the native language of the community. In fact many english only people come here for exposure to the spanish language to help them learn it. We are very interested in discussing with any church, or other group about arranging short or long term missionary work here. It is quite rewarding. We are a Bible based Christian 501c3 charity.
Seasons are pretty similar here, reverse than north of the equator but never freezes nor gets above 90F. Children that we cater too have their summer school break from Jan-Mar, activities may vary a bit based on seasonal weather and school schedules but not much.
We are headquartered in San Diego but are very focused on the operational needs of a mission that we have built in Peru in a very needed area. We were gifted the land to build it on and we haven't stopped in the last 8-9 years on that venture. We have long term resident missionaries living there now, and dormitories for visiting short term missionaries. We have additional private dorms for additional long term resident missionaries. We have partnered with Samaritans Purse, AWANA (OANSA), and now YWAM (JuCUM). Our basic needs are support and giving and helping, both spiritually and physically, to the needy of this area. We have helped cloth, fund education, eye glasses, health care, sports activities, homework assist, haircuts, dancing, choir, music, flood victim assist, home building and repairs, orthodonics, and much more. Obviously this takes time, talent and treasure. We would love to answer any and all questions you may have and our mission is open for your visitation and participation as well .
