What We Need

Misión México is a children’s refuge providing love, life and hope to 29 children and teenagers. Volunteers will assist with the day to day running of the home, such as wake up/bed time routines, chore and meal supervision and homework help. Additionally, in the holidays volunteers are needed to run activities such as surfing, painting, gardening, yoga, drama and photography.

Misión México also run a Youth Transition Program, which prepares the teenagers and young adults for life outside the refuge.

In our sister home of Mision Surf, volunteers can help to run programs such as surf, swimming, yoga and teaching English with the community and children of the town.

Our volunteers get two days off a week which is plenty of time to visit local attractions and for short trips within the state of Chiapas! We ask that any longer travel plans are completed before or after your volunteer period. We love sharing our travel stories and would love to help you plan your trips around Mexico and the surrounding countries!

Visas will depend on the duration of your stay and dependant on the country you are coming from, in general, they're easy and cheap to apply for.

There are hotels in the city if you wish to stay somewhere else.

Volunteers activities will change depending on the school holidays and big celebrations like Christmas time. Our family might spend more time at home which means more time for projects and activities with the kids.

Hola! My name is Vanisha and I am the Social Media and Communications Support for Mission Mexico. We are always in need of volunteers, donors and sponsors for our home and kids, and we rely solely on the help of those around us.

We are a home that houses around 30 kids and teens who have come from backgrounds of poverty, abuse and abandonment from Mexico and the surrounding countries. We provide education, health-care, extra-curricular and transitioning options for all of our kids and young adults.

On top of this, we have a sister home called Mission Surf which works directly with their local community, providing education, surf and swim lessons for free to a number of ever-growing adults and children who need it the most.

My work started as a volunteer and we cannot express how grateful we are for people who support, love and care for our youth and mission. So, come and join us! We'd love to have you and any skills that you'd love to share with our home <3
