What We Need

Classroom Assistants (Basic Spanish)
In the morning, volunteers are classroom assistants. This position requires a 4-week minimum commitment and a basic level of Spanish (you will have help from the teachers). In the afternoon, we are more flexible. Volunteers need to work for at least 4 weeks, but they can choose their own schedule.

Tutors (Advanced Spanish)
Volunteers can help with small, focused group tutoring on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoons. Children having difficulties with the standard curriculum receive tutoring and homework assistance by teachers and volunteers. An advanced level of Spanish is required.

Artistic and sports workshops (Intermediate to Advanced Spanish)
Workshops run two afternoons a week for all students from first grade and up. This program encourages volunteers to design their own classes in areas such as music, sports, or theater to facilitate with the children. We welcome new ideas depending on your skills and interests. An advanced level of Spanish is required.

English Program Assistant (Basic-Advanced Spanish)
We are looking for volunteers willing to support the English program, by teaching the children, but also train our local teachers. Spanish is not required for this role.

Summer Schoool Volunteers - November only (all Spanish levels)
Schools normally end in the beginning of October and don't start up again until January; however, we want to keep our kids off the streets and stay in school so we created summer school! Summer school is an extension of the normal term but it is more focused on extracurricular activities and there are more opportunities for volunteers to run their own workshops and classes! Hands-on support is provided by the NDG staff. Class planning is required before arriving which we will help with.

Summer camp takes place in November.

Niños de Guatemala empowers communities in marginalized areas of Guatemala. We achieve this by providing education that extends beyond the traditional classroom across three levels: students, their families, and the larger community.

We take a holistic approach to education by providing psychology and social work services alongside a nutritional program.

We aim to be sustainable both at the organizational and community level through initiating and supporting social business activities and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit.
