Real Agency for Community Development (RACD) is an NGO established in October 2007 as a CBO working in Isingiro District particularly in six sub counties ie Endiinzi Town Council , Mbaare, Masha, Birere, Kabuyanda Town Council and Rugaaga with an aim of empowering communities to improve their livelihood by putting up sustainable income generating activities like milk coolers, grinding machines and sensitizing people about HIV/AIDS. Later alone the scopes of work expanded and RACD went beyond the CBO capacity which prompted the members to advocate for promotion to an NGO status. After registering as an NGO with NGO Board on 12th June, 2012, the organization strengthened its operations in the areas of its objectives set. It started by conserving natural resources, provide support to vulnerable people in Isingiro District and targeting to continue with improving agricultural production, provide sexual and reproductive health (SRH), promote human rights to people infected and affected by STIs’ and HIV/AIDS and promote cooperative ventures, among others. RACD it is mandated to operate country wide

The objectives for which the ORGANIZATION is established are:
1. To conserve natural resources
2. To concentrate on innovative, cost effective and replicable resources
3. To improve agricultural production through the use of existent resources and make appropriate research.
4. To promote Income Generating Activities (IGAs) at household levels and at the centre.
5. To provide appropriate support to vulnerable people- PWDs, youth and to People infected and affected by HIV/AIDS
6.To promote practical trainings in life planning skills to adolescents and other vulnerable people
7. To promote human rights
8. To promote cooperative ventures

Where we work
Although the impact of RACD’s has national and international dimensions, our geographical area of operation is defined as 10 districts of South West Uganda. These districts include: Ntungamo, Mbarara, Greater Bushenyi, Kiruhura, Isingiro, Ibanda, Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu and Rukungiri.
As a new Organization, RACD had benefited from partnering with other already established and credible organizations. Key among our partners and sponsors are: the Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE), Western Ankole Civil Society Forum (WACSOF), Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF), Human Rights Network Uganda (HURINET- U), Citizens Election Observation Network (CEON), National Africa Freedom for Information Center (AFIC) International Alert (IA), Greater Mbarara Civil Society Forum, Coalition of Civic education Uganda, World Association of NGOs (WANGO), Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group(CSBAG) and Human rights Defenders Network.
RACD has also been in close contact and working together with most Local Governments in Uganda.
