What We Need
We are looking for volunteers to help women and children at Sambhali Trust. We are an NGO based in Jodhpur (urban) and Setrawa (rural) and need volunteers for both of these areas.
We run projects at our Empowerment Centres on hygiene, sewing, life skills and much more. Volunteers will also go to our projects in Jodhpur to teach and assist classes in Hindi, English and Maths with women and children. Our graduates sew and make everything for our boutique, and volunteers supervise and support these hardworking women. There are also opportunities to work in our offices, to promote Sambhali Trust on social media and to help create and strengthen partnerships with donors and sponsors.
Since our projects in Jodhpur are settled very well, we now want to concentrate more on the rural side. Next to our Sambhali center, we want to work with the local government school and hospital and send volunteers over there to help and support the staff. We believe that the students and patients deserve all the help they can get and we would like to be a part of that. Instead of establishing our own medical center, we request to work together with the Indian government to strengthen the village people in need. For that we are looking for nurses, doctors, teachers and photographers who could help us in Setrawa
We have a preference for volunteers who have a good command of English.
When & Who
What we Provide
Usually, our volunteers stay at the Guesthouse Durag Niwas, where they can eat together and socialise in its courtyard, restaurant area and rooftop. The owners also offer yoga, zumba, beginners classes in Hindi, informal cooking lessons for our guests and volunteers.
By being based in Jodhpur, volunteers can easily visit and explore the city. They can also visit neighbouring cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur and Jaisalmer on two weekends a month.
If you want to volunteer in the rural area of Setrawa, you stay together with other volunteers at our Dev Bagh Resort, from where you can enjoy the quitness and beautifull view of the Thar Desert. The Resort also hosts our horse Shanti which makes it perfect for all nature and animal lovers.
At Sambhali Trust, you don't have to pay a fee to work with us.
The only cost that could exist is your stay at the Durag Niwas Guesthouse or the Dev Bagh Resort. It is the home of the founder's family and usually, all volunteers live there. If you want to know more about it, please feel so free and visit its website. http://www.durag-niwas.com/
