Additional Info about Us
1. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY:
We promote and protect the environment to ensure that the environment is clean, that there is proper and sustainable utilization of natural resources to ensure future generations are not affected. WIRIO undertakes diverse community development projects with a great emphasis on renewable energy provisions to the communities in both rural and urban Kenya. Also, WIRIO practices planting of trees of both exotic and indigenous species. The trees have been planted in several schools. We are trying to initiate partnership with environmental organizations over bio-gas and solar panels projects which can assist the poor to access alternative sources of power for the improvement of their livelihoods.
2. TREE PLANTING:
WIRIO plants both indigenous and exotic trees species by involving farmers, school kids and the general public to help fight global warming and climate change. The farmers are encouraged to plant trees on their farms in agroforestry system and at time in a wood lot system or farmers with big portion of land.
3. ERADICATION OF EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER:
Poverty is one of the biggest threats facing humanity today and actually it has led to many deaths leaving behind bereaved women and children. Wide Rescue is focusing on socio-economic empowerment projects as a long term strategy to eradicate problems within poor communities. By achieving these, we encourage the poor families to start income generating projects like bee keeping, horticultural farming, poultry, dairy and small businesses.
4. WOMEN AND EDUCATION:
Women's education will form the basis for women's empowerment in all spheres. It is through education that the stereotypes about women which reinforce disparity between men and women can be tackled, thus helping to eliminate discrimination passed on from generation to generation through socialization.
