About this project
Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) operates on a tight budget financed in majority by volunteers who pay to stay and work with the animals in the sanctuaries, along with their on-site purchases, and additional fundraising and donations. These funds make up 95% of the funds available for the day-to-day operating expenses of each sanctuary. The past political crisis has led to a volunteer shortage, putting great strain on CIWY’s financial stability during 2019. Now with the COVID-19 crisis our situation has gotten worse, with no new volunteers and with food increasing in price, it is almost impossible to get through this situation for much longer.
Use of Proceeds
Your donations can help CIWY weather this crisis and keep all its animals fed, until more volunteers return and food prices stabilize.
CIWY helps preserve the biodiversity of Amazonian fauna by rescuing a wide array of animals, including endangered species. CIWY also educates the public to respect wildlife and the environment.
