"I have been volunteering at Tibet World for a period of 9 months as a French teacher. The language school is located in beautiful Dharamsala, a Tibetan settlement and home of H.H. the Dalai Lama. Yeshi is a very open minded and hard-working person who is dedicated to strengthen the bonds between Tibet and the rest of the world. He founded Tibet World to promote language and cultural exchange and to equip the local community with usefull skills.
As a full-time volunteer I have been in charge of several French classes (from beginner level to intermediate level). Tibet World offers a wide range of teaching materials, so I never ran out of ideas. The students are highly motivated and dedicated, so every day was a great experience!
As a volunteer you can also take part in conversation classes (English/French/Chinese). Every day a special topic is given and, depending on the size of the class, groups of 3-5 people are formed to discuss the topic with the help of a volunteer. It is a great opportunity to exchange points of views with people who have very different cultural and religious backgrounds (bhuddist monks, refugees etc.).
Regularly, Tibet World organizes cultural events, walking-tours, hikes or workshops. If volunteers have special skills (photography, cooking, drawing, Yoga, singing, acting...) they are highly welcome to organize an event or a workshop for the local community.
Volunteering at Tibet World was a wonderful experience, always exciting and I would highly recommend it! :)"
