While this offers many challenges, India incorporates heritage into its promising present making it both a popular traveling destination and a unique location to find volunteering opportunities. Its magnitude is followed by an ever rich culinary culture, religious history, and dramatically changing landscapes. In the last two decades, nonprofit organizations have been growing active across India and spreading across urban and rural areas.Volunteering in India can provide an insider's look on the happenings of a complex culture, turning it into a clear advantage.

Sambhali Trust

Sambhali (“Rising of the deprived”) Trust is a nonprofit organization recognized by the UN (ECOSOC) that works to empower women and children in Jodhpur and the Thar Desert. It was founded by Govind Singh Rathore in 2007 and by now, it has worked with over 10,000 women and children. Next to the Women Empowerment Centers in the mornings, girls and boys from 3-13 years have the opportunity to attend our Primary Education projects post-lunch. Our staff of local teachers and volunteers from all over the world teach them in English, Maths and Hindi and provide general knowledge in weekly workshops. It is essential to teach all our students in a sustainable way and to encourage them to pursue their further education and attend a local school. It is also our aim that Sambhali’s children will pass on their value of learning. These projects are in desperate need of funding to offer help to our young girls and boys who deserve support with their school work.
